Crackling Roast Pork (1kg)
KEY INFORMATION
Crackling roast pork is a beloved dish featuring pork with a crispy, crackling skin and tender, juicy meat beneath. Typically, pork shoulder, pork belly, or a pork loin with the skin-on is used. To achieve the perfect crackling, the skin is scored (usually in a crisscross pattern) and then seasoned generously with salt, sometimes combined with olive oil or herbs to enhance the flavor. The key to the crispiness lies in drying the skin and roasting it at a high temperature, which causes the fat under the skin to render and create that irresistible, crunchy exterior.
Crackling roast pork is often served as a centerpiece dish with accompaniments like roasted potatoes, applesauce, or a simple gravy to complement the rich flavors. The contrast between the crispy skin and the moist meat makes each bite a satisfying combination of textures and tastes!
